So müssen wir wohl oder übel vom Bootssteg Abschied und den Aufstieg über die Fischunkelalm in Angriff nehmen. Am oberen Ende der Alm, also nach weiteren 100 gefühlten Höhenmetern, taucht der schmale Weg in den Wald ein und verspricht von dort an.

Röthbachfall. Der Röthbachfall ist ein Wasserfall am südlichen Talschluss des Königssees im bayerischen Landkreis Berchtesgadener Land . Der Röthbach stürzt südlich des Obersees unterhalb der Röth über die Röthwand in zwei Hauptstufen beinahe senkrecht nach unten. Die Höhe wird im Allgemeinen mit ca. 470 Meter angegeben und bezieht.

In any case, we returned the way we came, boarded a 5pm boat (they typically leave every 15-30 minutes), and by 6:30pm or so, we finally made it back to the car park.

Keep following the trail along the banks of the Obersee until you reach the other side and keep hiking. In total, the hike from the boathouse to Röthbachfall is roughly a mile (1.6km). It is fairly easy to find. On your way, you may encounter some friendly cows, who typically wander freely during the daytime, even on the trail.

Der Röthbachfall wird aus Wasser des Steinernen Meers gespeist, die Wassermenge ist von Niederschlägen und Schnee abhängig. Besonders zur Schneeschmelze im Frühjahr führt er sehr viel, im Herbst dagegen sehr wenig Wasser. Die Wassermengen versickern im anmoorigen Almboden der Fischunkel, von wo sie den Obersee unterirdisch speisen.

We walk past it and follow the path until we reach the Obersee. We follow the path along its shore, which becomes somewhat uneven, mainly due to tree roots.. which we take and turn right towards Röthbachfall. The path leads us slightly uphill and unprotected by the sun. We then descend a little across a meadow until we reach the foothills.
